‘Never Break Faith’ is the first single of debut record Light, Cruel & Vain. It tells the indistinguishable personal and artistic story of Parrish Smith as the artist fully comes into his own. Bringing his most intimate work to the public eye for the first time, Parrish Smith faces the question of how to present his artistry and, authentically, himself. In a world that’s (over)saturated with external ideals of image, presentation, perception and consumption, the artist instead searches for answers within – battling to recognize imperfection as his most treasured weapon. ‘Never Break Faith’ is much more than the story or struggle of Parrish Smith, however. It is a mantra for anyone in the trenches, for the ones choosing insecurity over superficiality, for those looking to embrace and even celebrate their scars.
